It’s almost the end of summer. It’s back to school time, time to get back into your work groove. It’s time for goal setting and making things happen.
Sometimes, it’s the little things (like being non-technical and freezing when you think about making a website) that can trip us up and hinder us from living out our purpose.
If putting yourself out there and expressing yourself is on your to do list this fall, go for it! Whether you want to show off your photos, promote a special event, start a blog, or sell a product, what are you waiting for?!? It’s easier than you think. Take it from me.
Here’s a little story about how the Queen Bee got her buzz back.
Once upon a time, there was a Queen Bee named Amy. She was usually seen buzzing around her hive (NYC), rallying sweet honey bees to create their own buzz in life by “bee”ing themselves.
After all, that was her business as a life and career coach—helping others find their purpose and the courage to fulfill it so that they can live meaningful, happy lives.
Trouble was, this Queen Bee’s buzz was fading fast. She was working on her website, and much like technology sometimes, she froze.
Amy was fortunate to get clients by word of mouth, Facebook, and Twitter, but knew she couldn’t delay creating a website any longer. She had a vision of what she wanted, but couldn’t seem to bring it to life, despite much effort. For months, she spent an exorbitant amount of time—and a decent amount of money—on “solutions,” but couldn’t seem to get the results she desired.
Just as if she were caught in a vat of honey, she felt stuck, until one day, that all changed. While reading the April Issue of Entrepreneur magazine, something caught her eye: an article called How to Build Your Personal Website in Less Than 10 seconds. It was a quick blurb about Strikingly, and how you can use it to turn the information from LinkedIn into a website. “No freakin’ way,” she thought.
Amy was soaring. She couldn’t get over how fun it was to use Strikingly. (And “fun” was a word she would never think to associate with building a website.) Most importantly, the look—clean, simple, streamlined and modern—was exactly what she wanted to represent herself.
After feeling a surge of relief and more joy than she could handle, she thought, “Time is money, and I’ve wasted enough. (Time, that is.) If it was this easy to create a personal website, then I’m going to use Strikingly for my coaching website.”
In less than two days, she read about all the features and created and published a brand new site for The Queen Bee NYC. She felt proud to unveil her sites and send potential clients to them.
The end. (Or maybe more like the beginning!)
I hope you enjoyed my story. So often it’s the technical things – like building a website – that can stop someone creative from putting their gift out into the world. Not everyone is meant to share their gift publicly, but if you feel you are and are having a hard time doing it, I wanted to share my experience with the hope that it might help.
I love the work they’re doing and can’t speak highly enough of the team members I’ve been in contact with. They’ve been super friendly, very responsive, and uber helpful. The company is collaborative, innovative, and constantly thinking about how to make things easy and
effective for their members.
If you know someone who might benefit from this information, please feel free to share it with them! You can spread The Buzz!
And should you or someone you know need more in depth help and want to learn more about branding yourself or your business, I’ve got more than 15 years of marketing experience and a knack for helping you shine like the brilliant star you are! (Just like Strikingly does with their websites.) I can help you make the most of your talents and your site. “Bee” in touch if you feel so inclined!
My last call to action? Savor the end of summer and have a lovely Labor Day weekend!
