How to Conquer Your Fear of The Unknown

Life - like music - is composed one note at a time. Conquer your fear of the unknown by taking consistent action to create your unique score.

Happy New Year!! Did you miss me?! I missed you, but was so appreciative for those two weeks “off.”

I sincerely hope you enjoyed the holiday season and have kicked off 2015 with a buzz!

So, tell me, did you do a year in review? Did you spend time thinking about what you want to happen this year?

I did, and I have to tell you, while it was good, it was also scary, because I have plans… BIG plans.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret: I don’t know how to accomplish them all.

How is that possible, when I make my living helping others get what they want in life?

Here’s the deal: I may not know how to accomplish everything, but I don’t let that stop me. Even if I don’t know exactly what to do, I try something. I take some sort of action.

And as a coach, my job is to help you to take meaningful action. Together, we can clarify your destination, but just like Google Maps, there’s more than one way to get somewhere. You can choose the quickest route, try to avoid highways, or take the scenic route…

The key is to keep moving. Does that mean you can’t pull over sometimes? No!

I definitely have days when I get overwhelmed and decide to binge on Netflix and Funyuns in the hopes that when I’m finished, everything will have magically taken care of itself.

But guess what? That magic hasn’t happened yet. Do I still hope it will? You betcha. (Just kidding.)

When I’m done with my chip binge, I have less skin on the roof of my mouth, my breath smells like heaven (not!), and I get to pick up exactly where I left off. I let myself have moments like these because I’m human. And if I’m not mistaken, I think you are too...

As I told a friend of mine recently, life, like music, is not just one note. Some days go up. Some moments go down. Some hours are short. Some minutes are long. Then there’s the crescendo and decrescendo. Together, all those notes create a unique and beautiful score.

You are unique and beautiful. What you want in life and how you go about getting it make you different from everybody else. Embrace that. Sing your song loud and proud, baby!

While my future may be scary, because I have BIG plans and no precise plan to achieve them, I won’t let that stop me, nor will I let my low-note, “Netflix & Funyun” days derail me.

I’m going to keep buzzing. I’m going to make up my song as I go along. Sure, some of my ditties will probably turn out better than others, but what’s the consequence of not singing at all?

Don’t be afraid to not know exactly what you’re doing. Don’t let that stop you from achieving what you want this year. Start writing your 2015 score, one note at a time. I can’t wait to hear your beautiful music!

So, talk to me. Does not having a plan scare the pants off you? Do you want to learn how to live life in the moment and “bee” more present? Do you have some examples of how your life unfolded when you lived life one note at a time? I’m interested! Let me know in the comments.

And if you liked this, chances are someone you know might too! Please feel free to spread The Buzz. I’d “bee” ever so grateful!

Until next week…
