Is it Time to Leave Your Job?

You're back from the long weekend and you can't even stomach the 4-day workweek. "Houston, we have a problem."

It’s been a short work week after the Memorial Day holiday. Does anyone feel like the above?

If so, I can totally relate. There were a few jobs that I didn’t realize how bad the environment was for me until I was away from them.

The weekend would come and go all too quickly and the Sunday Night Blues would set in Sunday morning. Long weekends were rough, and an actual vacation? Now that could push me over the edge!

I would just roll up my sleeves and deal because I knew not every day was going to be
pleasant and there were good things about the job, but when years went by and I was still telling myself that, well, that’s when I finally realized there was a real problem.

I’m talking to the person who hates their job in the podcast. I’ll tell you all about my weekly pro/con list, the pits in my stomach, the battling voices in my head and I’ll pump you up if you need some help in this area, so have a listen!

You see, I almost forgot it was a holiday weekend until someone reminded me. And that’s because every day pretty much feels like a vacation.

Okay, I don’t mean that I’m sleeping in and eating out or taking tours and not working, but my “work” doesn’t feel like work.

When you’re passionate about what you do, it’s a real sweet spot. If you’ve read my weekly stories (and if you haven’t, sign up so you can!) you know I was not always in this place.

I was like you, but I reached a point when I just decided it was worth taking a trip to the other
side to see if my gut was right. And it sure was!

Remember that you’re exactly where you need to be right now – even if it’s not a great place.

“Bee” nice to yourself, but I urge you to pay attention to your feelings. If you’re not back to work from the long weekend feeling refreshed, then you owe it to yourself heed the warning.

It can be scary when you know you hate your job but don’t know what to do about it. The secret is to approach your problem like you would one at work.

You wouldn’t get super emotional and freak out at work, would you? No, you’d remove
emotion and figure out what you need to do, who you need to reach out to, and tackle the issue step by step. You can do the same to solve this “problem” in your life.

The podcast is full of more details about why you feel so good on vacation and how to take that into your “real” life, an analogy (you know how I love those) about overeating and the job you dislike, and lots of energy to get you buzzing!!
