By the way, you should all have a friend who researches what you should consume while you’re on vacation. :) I have one who does that for me. Could I do it on my own? Sure. Do I want to? Nope.
I find flying to be one of the best times for relaxing my mind, so having the right music to help that along is crucial!
It’s much easier to connect with your higher self when you’re miles up, up, and away because (unless you have a fear of flying or are with kids who haven’t been sedated – and by that I mean occupied with an iPad) you’re better able to disconnect from the world as you know it.
Let’s face it, there’s pretty much nowhere to go but inside yourself on an airplane. You’re not welcome in the aisles. You’re not welcome in the cockpit. And judging from the size of it, you’re not welcome in the bathroom - at least not for very long.
There only real distractions are the occasional bout of turbulence (no me gusta!), pesky drink cart decisions (hydrate properly with water or treat myself to a fizzy soda? What to do?!), in-flight entertainment (all but the Skymall catalog has lost its charm to me) and the potential cast of characters:
Oh, I’ve had some memorable transatlantic flights! But back to my point, because believe it or not, there is one!
It’s like a whole new world above the clouds where the sun’s always shining and only the big picture is in focus. All you can see is horizon. All you can feel is infinite possibility. (I hope!)
Throw in some carefully curated music and it’s like creation heaven. I feel like I can make my own summer magic in those moments.
And by being creative, I simply mean imagining and generating ideas. Being able to let go of the mind minutia and “hear” what you’re saying.
The thoughts that come to you when you’ve tuned out everyone and everything else except yourself are, what I like to call, divine downloads. That’s when magic and miracles happen!
Miracle by definition is “a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency.” Love it.
If you can’t get true physical distance this summer, get away mentally. Go outside, take a walk, sit in the park, walk on the grass, go for a swim, close your eyes, lay in a hammock, take some deep breaths, go for a run, listen to music, write in your journal – do what you have to do to create your own summer magic and I can’t wait to hear what comes to you!
If you liked this, chances are someone you know might too! Please spread The Buzz with the links. I’d “bee” ever so grateful!
Until next time…
